Kindergarten Karate

Why Kindergarten Karate?

Kindergarten is such an important time in a child's education where they begin to develop cognitive, social and emotional pathways.

Karate Community recognises the importance of building a foundation where children can grow into more confident, healthy and sociable individuals.

Our Kinda Karate platform is a brilliant combination of tried-and-tested martial art training methods, principles and philosophies interwoven with a nurturing and fun-filled learn-through-play experience. Participants will enjoy a balance of physical exercise and challenging activities all while learning authentic karate!

How do we support the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)?

Our Kindergarten Karate program incorporates many of the Learning Outcomes as outlined in the EYLF, such as outcome 3 - “Children have a strong sense of Wellbeing”, as well as the National Quality Standards, particularly section 6 “Collaborative partnerships with families and communities”, 2.3 “Community engagement”.

To learn more about Kinda Karate and the EYLF, you can request a copy of our Kindergarten Karate Policy Statement.

What we offer...

Kindergarten Karate is a wellness program for children aged 4 and 5 years old in pre-kinder and kindergarten. Classes run for 30 minutes to enable maximum focus and development for growing young minds.

Our Karate Kindergarten Program is offered weekly at $12 per child and delivered in either a 5 or 10 week block. Our program contains many modules that are themed to develop specific skills sets. These are rotated throughout the year to keep classes fresh and exciting. Our most popular programs include:

  • Rumble tumble play fall safety program, teaching young people to navigate falls and trips injury free.

  • Bully awareness - teaching resilience through non-physical and safe physical strategies.

  • Karate bootcamp - getting stronger through authentic training methods and games.

  • Introduction to traditional karate - learning Japanese language and culture with karate fundamentals and forms.

The versatility and diversity of our programs enables year long engagement and enjoyment. The program will support early-education children with their transition to primary school through confidence building and positive social engagement, as well as learning some valuable life skills.

Our programs are delivered in small class sizes to maximise student engagement, skill development and give each participant personal support.

Children will:

  • Learn FUN-damental fine motor skills, balance & coordination.

  • Hone inner confidence and build executive function skills.

  • Have loads of fun whilst learning basic Japanese Goju Ryu Karate.

All participants will receive a Karate Community headband upon enrolment and a Certificate of Participation at the end of their 5 or 10 week program.

Who coaches Kindergarten Karate?

Our principal coach is local martial-artisan and gentleman-warrior, Peter Zarb. When he isn’t teaching Kindergarten Karate, Peter runs a popular Karate School in Eumundi catering to community members aged 5-70+.

Peter has been enthusiastically studying karate since he was a young kindergarten aged boy himself, and has now been teaching for over 20 years. Peter has always had a passion for youth development and the combat arts, being greatly inspired as a young boy at how gentle, powerful and inspirational the seniors members of his karate academy were.

You can find out more about our qualified coach here.

What other people say about Karate Community...

Karate Community is committed to delivering the best youth martial arts programs around.

Here is what other locals have to say about our programs:

“Sensei Pete has made a real and positive impact on our daughter. Over the past 2 years she has developed her confidence and focus … and has stayed enthusiastic and engaged which is unusual for her. Pete’s style of teaching is respectful of his students and is peppered with his own unique way of delivering instruction and information (with a few dad jokes thrown in!) I couldn’t recommend Karate Community highly enough!”

“Our community loves the karate offered by Pete who is a fantastic role model. The kids really look up to him. I would recommend this training to anyone interested in learning karate…”

“My 7 year old son started karate with Sensei Pete this year, and I am so grateful that we have found such a highly skilled and authentic teacher, and a wonderful local class to attend. Karate and so much more for all ages ”

“Peter Zarb is one of those rare creatures: a thinking gentleman warrior - highly trained, unassuming, accommodating and friendly. If you want to study the art of traditional, functional karatedo, look no further.”
