Upgrades term 4 2021
This Grading Day we are doing things a little differently.
Everyone is invited to participate and demonstrate their current skill development. We will assess every participant, take notes and provide feedback. We will contact participants with the results of their upgrade.
Those who were unsuccessful or absent will have an opportunity to make corrections and demonstrate at their next class.
All successful students will receive their new certification during our Xmas break up (or when we see you next)!
What’s it all about?
The focus of Karate Community is to progressively improve technique and character through diligent training and application of key principles and concepts.
Our community upgrade assessments are a special event where we:
Nurture students to overcome insecurities surrounding public demonstration.
Encourage students to positively recognise that it is ok to make mistakes.
Support and inspire each other.
Recognise students for hard work.
While only some students will be ready to be upgraded, ALL students are invited to participate in this presentation. This will help prepare them for future assessments while encouraging and supporting those presenting for upgrade.
What do you need?
For grading students must ensure they are:
at the appropriate standard for the desired rank
holders of a current membership
up to date with all fees
aware of the required syllabus
wearing an approved dogi and belt (clean)
aware of appropriate etiquette.
On the day, please bring a water bottle. We will provide fresh fruit and tea.
Successful student upgrades will be invoiced $40.
Those unsuccessful will be awarded encouragement certificates and a grading attendance stripe on their belts. Because the hardest part of karate training is turning up!
